Casey Cardinia Libraries launched a writing competition early this year for members of the local community. With the theme ‘Day in the Life’, the writing competition received more than 190 entries across poetry and short story categories.
We are excited to announce that Grace Sudjono, a Grade 5 student at Harkaway Hills College, has been selected as the winner in both the poetry and the short story categories for the age 8-11 age groups.
Her poem ‘Woman at the Window’ has been published on the Casey Cardinia Library website and in the Gazette’s People’s Choice newsletter, and can be viewed here: https://www.cclc.vic.gov.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Ages-8-11-Woman-at-the-Window-by-Grace-Sudjono.pdf
Grace’s winning short story has also been published, and can be viewed here: https://www.cclc.vic.gov.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Ages-8-11-Woman-at-the-Window-by-Charley-Sudjono.pdf
Congratulations Grace! We are so proud of this extraordinary achievement.
Thank you also to Grace’s teacher, Miss Johanna O’Farrell, for supporting Grace as she worked on the creation of her poem and short story.
